Quadcopter or hexacopter: what is better?

When you purchase a drone, you have the choice between a quadcopter and a hexacopter. What is the difference between these two and better to buy a quadcopter or a hexacopter?

The quadcopter
The quadcopter is the best-known drone. If most people think of a drone, they will have a quadcopter in mind. The quadcopter is a drone equipped with four propellers. This makes it a lot more stable than the tripod, a drone with three propellers.

The quadcopter is the most standard model and is, therefore, best available. For example, the well-known Phantom series consists entirely of quadcopters.

The hexacopter
The only essential difference between the quadcopter and the hexacopter is the number of drone propellers. Where the quadcopter has four, the hexacopter - the name says it all - is equipped with six propellers. These drones are less known than the coreless motor quadcopters.

This is because many people do not necessarily need a drone with more than four propellers. The hexacopter has some advantages compared to the quadcopter

Which one is better?
Because the hexacopter has six propellers instead of four, this drone is more stable. For example, if a propeller fails unexpectedly, the hexacopter will not fall directly to the ground. In addition, the more propellers, the stronger the drone.

The hexacopter is, therefore, better suited for transport, because this drone can carry heavier loads. More propellers, however, also means a more expensive drone. Hexacopters are therefore considerably more expensive than quadcopters.

Personal preference
The hexacopter is not necessarily better than the quadcopter. It is best to make a choice based on your personal preference. If you are going to use the drone exclusively to fly as a private individual and to experience movies, then the quadcopter is an excellent choice.

It makes little sense to spend extra money on functionalities that you will not use. The hexacopter is probably a better option for transport and other business use. This thanks to the extra strength and stability that the extra two propellers offer.
